Don Benz's Santa Fe is definately a layout to behold for the southwestern purists. Modeling the transition era, Don has done a spectacular job modeling his engines down to every lasting detail. Bill Beranek's HO layout (since retired) modeled a portion of west-central Idaho in 1988. The Union Pacific and Burlington Northern jointly operated the prototype for this bridge line. This now surpassed layout of George Booth modeled the 1960’s C&S along the front range from Denver to Fort Collins. Hidden staging served Pueblo and Cheyenne. This part of the layout operated with Rail Command throttles and decoders. A recently-rebuilt Great Western closely matched prototype tracks from Loveland to Windsor, Johnstown and Milliken... Vern Brock's Mountain Valley Railroad has been under construction for over 20 years. It was featured in a 1985 article in Railroad Model Craftsman. The mainline has been considerably extended, but for the most part Vince Griesemer has been working on rolling stock. Lots of cars. The Rio Pasado built by Chuck Hagemeister tells many stories. Bill Kepner opened the South Penn to visitors for the March 2002 layout tour. This 24 by 20 foot N-scale layout, set in 1967, has a 9.2 scale mile mainline run and generous staging. On the south end of the layout the spectacular King Coal flood loader complex dispensed over 5 gallons of coal without refill to waiting hoppers. On the north end a Whiting Rotaside rotary dump emptied the coal for barge loading on the Ohio River... This layout, now gone, was featured in several magazines. Seventy-seven NCMRC club members and guests stared down from the mezzanine. A lone figure, Dave Trussell, stood in the center of the building, dwarfed by 5500 square feet of benchwork and aisles. Don and Donna Reinke's Sheboygan, Susanville and Western layout is now history, as they sold their house and moved. Their 14 X 22 Chicago and Northwestern layout was featured in a tour in 2002 and an accompanying article. However, the layout is captured in a new video that can be seen by clicking on the image to the left. |

In early 2016, longtime member Dallas Williams had to take down his layout, as he was moving to a new and smaller location. Only days before that was to happen, Rick Inglis and Tom Tuck were able to visit with Dallas and take this video. May the Bruceburg, Dallas, & Lynne Railroad Live On ! Enjoy. |
